June 2014 I got an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear. My doctor said that he didn't want to do surgery because I'm old and that I might need knee surgery later. I was almost 63 at the time. He never asked me if anyone in my family have had knee surgeries; they haven't. So, I have been in pain for almost 4 years. Cortisone shots did nothing.
My daughter injured her right knee 3 weeks ago playing a college basketball game. She was in extreme pain and heard the classic popping sound. She had her MRI a few days ago that confirmed an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear. She sees her surgeon today to schedule her repair. She'll have physiotherapy the next 2 weeks and surgery after that. They say her recovery will take 6 to 8 months.
My 17 year old son is scheduled for ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) repair surgery. He had a torn MCL (medial collateral ligament) as well, which has taken 6 weeks to heal. Everyone tells him horror stories about this surgery, recovery and results, and that he won’t be able to kneel, etc.
A day and a half ago I injured my right knee. I twisted it and felt it popping. Since than I can't bear weight on it. We went to the emergency room. The x-ray was okay, I got a knee brace and crotchets. Tomorrow I am going to see an orthopedist. My knee is swollen and hurts. I am worry that it looks like ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury.
For torn ACL I had ACL reconstruction using hamstring.
I had a fall 8 weeks ago and I have been told I have torn the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament). Doctor said I must exercise for the next 6 months; I am hoping to build the muscles. I have no pain.
