I'm 75 and a long-distance runner. My retinal detachment started 2 weeks ago with floaters. A week later a shadow started in the bottom of the eye and spread. I rang my general physician (GP) and was immediately referred to the hospital. I had the surgery 2 days after tests. Very easy operation, though 3 days later the eye is still blurred. The other commenter is right; 3 days following, face down is worse than the operation. NHS is brilliant. I have follow-up this Friday. I should have rung the GP when those (orange) floaters appeared.

My retinal detachment started with flashes of light on the outside of the right eye. I then began to experience a cloudy veil coming down from the top of the eye along with floaters. The first doctor treated the eye with medication. Two weeks later things did not improve. He immediately sent me to a retina specialist., who set me up for surgery the next day. This was November 14, 2019. I had my first follow up November 20, 2019 and things are improving. The worst was the position of the head for 3 days afterwards.

Suddenly, without warning, I began to see flash-like lights. I did not give it any importance and followed my life naturally. After a few months, I saw what looked like a transparent cloth between me and what I saw. After seeing the doctor, he discovered that the retina was pierced from the vision center. A surgical operation was carried out without anesthesia, only an eye anesthesia. The doctor placed a gas in the eye on June 9, 2018. Until this moment the gas bubble is still in my eyes.

It looked like a black curtain was drawing closed from left to right in right eye. I first noticed when I covered my left eye, I could not see past my nose with my right eye - it was just blackness. After a day or two, the blackness covered all the way to 2:00 in my sight of vision. Two days later I had eye surgery for retinal detachment, which was much easier than I had expected.
