I was walking my dog in the yard, I had seen trash that needed to be picked up, and we walked over that. Before I realized it a sharp pain came over me, so I looked down and there was a rake going through my shoe. I cleaned the puncture wound with first aid kit but now it is swelling and hurts to walk! I wonder if I should seek help.

I was at work, I cook food for samples, and just after tempering a salmon patty, I punctured my thumb with the sharp point drawing blood. Now it hurts and my last tetanus shot was 13 years ago. I wonder if I should go have it again.

I was working on drywall in my house and slipped with the drywall knife, it poked my ankle and made a puncture wound. Since then there was barely any blood but for the past 12 hours pain has been radiating up from the foot. It is up to my knee now, and my shin and calf are on fire. The ankle is now swollen but not a lot. I can barely walk from the pain.

I took a knife to cut an onion and I dropped the knife, it fell and punctured the top of my foot by my big toe. I wrapped my wound and about an hour later my big toe was hurting a lot. What I'm trying to figure out is why it is hurting so much that I had to put ice on it. Wonder if I hit a nerve that my toe was affected.

I just stepped on a toothpick on Monday and a piece of it was stuck in the heel of my foot causing the puncture wound. I had lots of pain. I went to the emergency room, they took an x-ray and couldn't find the piece of toothpick in the foot. I got a tetanus shot and a couple of pain shots. The doctor made a small incision to make sure nothing was there. I am taking 600 mg ibuprofen. It is very hard to walk on that foot, still painful. I am doing a follow up same week with my primary doctor and may request antibiotics.

An earring outside my house was the cause of my puncture wound. It went through my shoe. No bleeding, no broken pieces. There is a black dot where it is after the next day (bruise).

My boyfriend was smashing rocks with a sledgehammer and a small piece of the rock hit him in the shin. It did not bleed at first but a minute later he noticed blood was squirting out from the puncture wound profusely about a foot away from him. He applied pressure then cleaned once the bleeding stopped. But now a few hours later it is very sore and is bleeding somewhat heavily.

I was sewing and the needle went through the nail bed to the other side. It bled profusely. One quarter of the nail is loose and I have cuts from needle on tip of finger and under as well. I applied peroxide to disinfect the puncture wound, Polysporin and gauze. Very painful, hoping no infection to follow.

A digital meat thermometer the cause of my puncture wound. I was trying to hurry up and clean the kitchen at my job and I picked the thermometer up and had a rag to wipe it off, but accidentally stabbed the inside of my pointer finger and now it is swollen. My finger is a little numb, it also hurts, and I can't bend my finger all the way. It barely bled and it is a tiny little puncture wound.

I was cleaning up my space in the community garden and there was so much scrap wood there. I have balance issues so have to use a walker. Anyway, I slightly lost my balance and fell onto the scraps. One broke and left a 3 inch nail poking through. It was rusty and went through the outside of my left forearm halfway between elbow and wrist. I just pulled my arm off the nail. It bled, and I'm on warfarin. I applied pressure, rinsed with saline and went to the doctor's office triage. It is better today, was hot yesterday but today it is only warm. And so far, no bruising. It did swell a lot the first night so when I saw it was still bleeding I drained some more off to relieve the pressure. It is looking good now 48 later.

I was working on a metal and in an attempt to prevent it from falling, I stabbed my hand on a sharp piece of metal. I cleaned it afterwards but 4 days later it is really hurting. There's a small amount of pus in it and it is very red and possibly getting infected. Not sure if I have to get a tetanus shot or if I will be okay keeping it clean.

On Friday, I picked up a sharp remnant of a ceramic vase and it poked the pad of my right middle index finger. Nothing was left in the wound, but, there is throbbing, excruciating pain. I have applied Neosporin, soaked it in peroxide, but it is swollen and has rendered my hand useless.

I was helping my husband put up our trampoline and accidently backed into the drill he had just put down after drilling a hole into some metal conduit. I know for a fact that he has used this drill for at least 100 different uses, so goodness knows what's really on that drill bit. My wound is hot to the touch and my calf where it punctured is red, swollen and painful. Whenever I stand up it hurts much more.

It is midnight and I went out in my yard and stepped on a rusty nail from some construction I was doing today. It went in directly and out immediately. I am a 68-year-old veteran and have care by the VA. I believe I have had all the shots VA gives. So I cleaned my feet well and made my wound bleed as much as possible. It feels a lot better now.

I was at a friend's house and stepped on a rusty nail. My shots are all up-to-date but i fear that there may be an infection. The bottom of my foot is hard and swollen so only my big toe touches the ground and around the puncture wound is slightly white and a little more swollen then the rest of my foot. Also the skin where the nail directly hit is a white-grey. I've cleaned it and put antibiotic cream on it but I'm still not sure.

I have multiple puncture wounds from my cat. I felt the cat's teeth in the knuckle joint of my index finger. It bit through the flesh side of the joint. I felt its teeth hit bone twice. It bled profusely. I got my tetanus shot and had the wounds cleaned. I am on a 10-day antibiotic. I can't feel the top of my finger and it looks crooked.

I stepped on a piece of glass in my living room (no clue how it got there). Sat on the sofa and caught the blood in my hands until a relative brought some paper towels. I held some on my foot for a few minutes until the bleeding was almost stopped then hopped into the bathroom to wash it (I used baby soap. Thought it might be gentler than regular soap). After I patted it dry and held a little more pressure on it I applied Neosporin and covered in with a gauze pad, a bandage and a sock. It happened last night, and this afternoon when I looked at it again it still seemed like it would bleed if I messed with it so I just put another gauze pad and bandage on. The glass went in about 3/8 inch deep. Trying to stay off my heel by walking on tip-toe with that foot but its making my ankle ache, as well as the ball of my foot. Hope it starts healing soon. I prefer not to see doctors unless I have to.

I accidentally got shot in the hand with a pellet gun. It immediately went numb and began to spurt out blood. This was five days ago. Now it's just a bit swollen. It doesn't really hurt, but I get this jolt whenever I move my hand too fast. I think I severed a nerve. I hope this goes away because I need my hand for basketball!

I was digging a hole while gardening and stepped back onto a hoe rake which went through my sneaker into my foot. It was sticking out of my foot. Was able to get the rake out but did have lots of bleeding and multiple deep punctures in the sole and heel of my foot. I went to the ER. I had a tetanus shot and an X-ray. The doctor said it is extra important to go have an x ray because with a shoe on and object picture through can cause metal fragments to embed into foot or bone fragments to break off. On crutches and glad I went cause the throbbing and pain is crazy!!

I fell and had a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver puncture my left hand about an inch under the little finger. It went in at least two inches (from side to center palm). Amazingly there was only a burning sensation for the first 10 minutes. An hour after there is no pain only a little tender when I move my fingers. I think it will be ok, it did not bleed a lot and I have a current tetanus vaccine.

I punctured the underside of the first joint of my index finger with a small screwdriver, and it immediately went completely numb and bled profusely. This occurred two days ago, and the tip of my finger is still very numb, but the really disturbing thing is that anything that comes in contact with the fingertip sends an electrifying jolt though the affected area. I believe I must have severed a nerve, and I also play guitar, banjo, and I really need that finger.

My brother was helping a friend move his hot tub when he stepped on a four-inch nail piercing through his shoe and nearly all the way through his foot. The blood actually spurted out if his foot about five inches a few times but he was able to get it to stop. He goes for a tetanus shot and to see the doctor in the morning.
