Well, I was only 18 months old when I had paralytic polio, but I sure enough have got the second round called post-polio syndrome. I have had 15 operations, double scoliosis and chronic osteoarthritis, and had surgery for carpal tunnel in both hands. Bones were removed from my thumb, nerve damage in my elbow, and arthritis in all main joints. I have atrial fibrillation and both shoulders fixed. I had 3 surgeries in the right leg, the last one after total knee replacement hemorrhaged; the doctor ruined my knee. I have 24/7 pain. I stayed in the hospital with bleeding out of my skin infection, and swollen as big as a basketball. I have osteoarthritis in both hips.

My boyfriend’s mom is 83. She just got home from a 3 week stay in the hospital. She has had pneumonia and she is diabetic. I took her to get an iron infusion and a polio shot, and she now has blisters in her mouth, inside of her lips and throat, and the edges of her tongue.
