When I was a child measles definitely itched. This article said measles did not itch. Mothers in the 30s and 40s used calamine lotion and used an oat-paste to alleviate the itching. My mother even put cotton gloves on me so I wouldn't scratch the rash. Some children ended up scarred for life from measles and chickenpox.

With measles I had no rash, just a cough that was so bad it made my chest hurt every time I coughed. My body hurt at every touch, I had fever and stomach ache (around the diaphragm) that caused me to want to lie down and sleep. On top of that, my nose was clogged and congested, my eyes red, and I had no appetite. Water was my worst drink, I desired to eat fruits and sour things only, not a good experience.

On Thursday 26th, I discovered rashes on my body mostly on my neck. I told my mum and they concluded they were heat rashes. But I am still having scratches on my back sometimes, so I wondered if it may be measles.

Nine days ago my son presented with a bad rash on his arms. Two days later I took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with measles. He had just received his second MMR dose two weeks before for his four-year-old physical. Yesterday he seemed clear from the rash that eventually took over his entire body. We took him outside in the yard. It was an overcast day. The rash on his arms reappeared.

I experience a high fever, headache, and chills. Yesterday, I discovered a rash that began to peel. I went to the doctor who confirmed it was measles.

My son is 7 years old. The doctor said he did not have the measles because it was impossible to get it because he was vaccinated. She diagnosed him with scarlet fever (streptococcus). On Wednesday he came back from school with a no color rash over his face and chest. On Thursday morning he had the rash on his face, chest, back, arms and he also complained of abdominal pain. By Friday he lost appetite. He had diarrhea, nausea and fever about 101. He has been sick for 10 days now and his skin is peeling off from his toes, fingers and the area around his eyes. My son's energy level is still a little low. I am really confused right now, because this article says that it is possible to get measles even if you are vaccinated (like my son sure is), but my doctor tells me otherwise.

I had measles in 1957. I was kept in a darkened room because they said your eyes could be affected. I was very sick with a fever and a rash. I remember it now and I am 60!

High fever, red eyes, running nose, cough, and red rashes occurred when I had measles.
