I wanted to write something more positive here after reading all the bad experiences. My liver biopsy was to sample a potentially cancerous lesion. I understand that the risk of bleeding is higher when sampling lesions than the liver, generally. However, I had no bleeding afterwards and no pain at all. Worst bit was having to lie on my side for 4 hours afterwards. I wasn’t able to lift my kids for a week, in accordance with the discharge instructions, but that was a good excuse for childcare!

I had my liver biopsy yesterday under general anesthesia. When I woke up from anesthesia I was in horrific pain. I couldn't breathe in all the way because of the pain. I was freaked out, it was of the worst pains I've ever experienced, and I've had 28 trips under anesthesia. It was not the anesthesia, it was the pain from the biopsy. It took a good 30 minutes to stabilize me, and the hospital was very irritated with me because I was sobbing and crying. It was atrocious, I will never have it again!
