I had my thyroid removed March 23, 2013. I went from Hashimoto’s to hyperthyroidism. I have had tremendous weight gain, 50 lb. I had nausea, headaches, depression and bone pain where it hurt to walk. Now I have hypothyroidism with TSH 13.9 and a PTH of 190. I’m ready to be normal again. I had not seen the endocrinologist for 1 year. I feel like I have had this for a while. Any information would be helpful.

I was diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism back in November 2010. I took myself to my doctor, because my husband had just been diagnosed with lung cancer, and my anxiety along with my blood pressure was way up. He ran blood test that read my calcium levels were off the chart, and sent me to the emergency room, and was then admitted for further testing and given a medication by IV to counter the calcium levels in the blood. I was finely diagnosed by the third day with hyperparathyroidism. I was released on day 3, scheduled an appointment with an endocrinologist and surgeon, and had surgery to remove the 1 enlarged parathyroid gland. All my symptoms ceased after that, but I had had every symptom that this condition or disease can cause over a long period of time, probably 6 to 8 years at least, so the endocrinologist thought and I as well. I believe having this condition for a long period of time, contributed to having stage 3 CKD (chronic kidney disease), my doctor also told me this is true. I have learned since, (hind sight is 20/20) that this disease is discovered when there is some type of crisis; that was my case anyway.
