To get rid of hiccups just simply swallow 3 times with your head down so no more air gets in and they're gone.

Drink a glass of water very quickly. No need to hold your nose, drink from the back of the glass or any other tricks! This works instantly for hiccups. Holding your breath is the best known remedy but it doesn't work for me.

It's all in how you hold your breath that it depends on if you will successfully end your hiccups that way. I time the hiccups and then a few seconds before one I begin to hold my breath and wait that way for 10 to 15 seconds. You have to fully stop breathing and for some reason it's really hard to explain to people but if you do it correctly you will have 100 percent success with stopping your hiccups, it has never not worked for me. I know everyone is a bit different but just keep trying, you'll figure it out, no water or anything needed.

Usually swallowing 4 times while holding my breath does the trick, but less than a minute ago it didn't, so I held my nose closed and chugged water until I had to take a breath, that worked for my hiccups.

I heard this and it works for me every time. Take a big mouthful of water and swallow about 15 times while holding your breath and plugging your ears.

A spoon of peanut butter works great. My daughter gets the hiccups all the time and peanut butter is all that seems to work for her.

I chew on a lemon slice when I get hiccups.

It really worked. I held my breath for some few seconds and hiccup stopped instantly. I have been trying other means for over 12 hours without success. I confirm this, it really works instantly.

Take a slice of lemon and sprinkle with sugar. Bite into it and suck on lemon until sugar is gone. It has worked every time.

Peppermint candy worked for my two year old. I just had to cut up the candy into smaller pieces to prevent him from choking. Quick cure!

I usually drink water out the other side of the cup which almost always works except one time when I had hiccups for over 3 hours. I held my nose while drinking and it worked!

To get rid of my hiccups I hold my breath and count to 10. Just before I let my breath out I swallow. Do this 3 times in a row. Works every time.

I have chronic hiccups. Last month I had an episode lasting a week, 10 hours plus per day. I ended that with a milk shake. Friday night they started again. They continued through to Sunday night. I stopped them with a milk shake. They restarted about 2:00 am Monday. I again stopped them with ice cream. The cold applied to get that severe chilling at the back of the mouth and the smoothness of the shake or ice cream seem to be the factor to the success of this home remedy.

I take a glass of really ice cold water and let it slide down the back of my throat and tongue really slow and repeat over and over, but the hiccupping usual stops within a few swallows.

I was looking for a way to stop my hiccups and thought I would try pulling my tongue. I just couldn't believe it when they stopped instantly. Cool.
