I had open bilateral inguinal hernia surgery, and the pain was intense, much more than I’d expected. I had a burning pain all over my abdomen and excessive bruising and swelling in my private parts. I could not tolerate any clothing touching my skin. That lasted for about three months, now after two years I am still totally numb across the same area and I still get pains in my groin. My abdomen is no longer a normal shape! I wouldn’t advise anyone to get this done unless it is an absolute necessity.

I had laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. Post-surgery I was in more pain than I have ever had in my life. I went to the emergency room (ER) and even pain medicines put in IV did not help, and I was told it was gas pain. My body shook with pain, it has been 3 days and I am still in pain (not near as bad), but swollen and can't touch the 3 holes that were made in my stomach; too painful.

I had bilateral inguinal hernia surgery (open; mesh) two months ago. For the first 2 weeks post-surgery, I experienced burning/stabbing pain in my upper thighs. The doctor said that was normal and was a sign of healing. After one month the pain stopped and I thought the worst was over. But at around the 6 week mark the “healing pain” returned worse than before. Although not constant, I now get the pain when just sitting, and when I stand to walk the burning pain is intense. Scared it may be chronic.

I had colon obstruction surgery in 2010, hernia repair in 2014, again colon obstruction in 2017 and another hernia repair in 2018. I am still living with great pain and sometime cannot lift even my hand. There is a lot of gas in my stomach and at times I feel very weak and tired. Both the hernia repairs were though surgery. Surprisingly, there is still pain where the repair was done. Perhaps it is still early because the surgery was done on 2nd July 2018. I wonder if the food has any effect.

I had umbilical hernia repair around 10 years ago, and have been getting a very sore sharp pulling pain around the scar site, especially when laying on my side whilst in bed.
