Main Article on Genital Herpes Question: What were effective treatments for your genital herpes? Comment from: Ed, 35-44 Male (Patient) Published: May 22 I tested positive for HSV 2 a few months ago. At first, yes, I was devastated thinking I have an incurable STD for life. After doing hours of research I quickly realized genital herpes is a filthy parasite that just likes to hide in your body. Yes, there’s no “medical cure” but that doesn’t mean your body can’t get rid of it. You literally have to flush it from your system. You have to go for raw fruits and vegetables with high pH. Tons of water and oregano oil and it’s gone in 6 months to a year. Comment from: HennieB, 35-44 Female (Patient) Published: April 29 When I was 21, I found out I had genital herpes from the guy whom I lost my virginity with. I am 39 years old now and I had outbreaks maybe a few times a year. The last five years it’s been twice a year. I don’t take medicines for it. I haven’t changed my diet. I took medicines early on but they were expensive then and I couldn’t keep it up. They didn’t seem to make a difference for me anyway. I will say that I just tried Neosporin and it has helped with the itching and pain. Comment from: Nnn, 25-34 Female (Caregiver) Published: February 26 Take lecithin 2400 mg for a month for genital herpes. You can supplement it with 1000 to 2000 mg of lysine as well as high potency oil of oregano. However, oil of oregano and lecithin will most definitely work. Comment from: DreamOn, 19-24 Female (Patient) Published: November 21 I was diagnosed with genital herpes 3 years ago. Bracing for impact, I changed my diet and lifestyle completely, only eating fruits, vegetables and nuts with a high pH level. I cut out all processed food and meat. Worked out and drank a gallon of water every day, started taking oregano oil (86 percent carvacrol) twice a day, and also placing it on my lower spine, wrist, and lymph nodes. After 9 1/2 months the virus is undetectable. I’ve taken multiple blood tests and still no signs of herpes. Keep hope alive. Comment from: Warrior angels , 35-44 Female (Patient) Published: September 18 I was diagnosed with genital herpes today and my world came to a halt. I am sad, embarrassed, and ashamed. I’m not sure where it can from but I hope the person didn’t do this to me intentionally. I’ve noticed outbreaks but was in denial, and self-medicated with alcohol. I have a daughter to live for and if it wasn’t for her, I don’t know what I would do. Comment from: Curisnick , 25-34 Female (Patient) Published: February 12 My husband and I both have genital herpes. During an outbreak I diluted oregano oil and rubbed it on the sore for every day of the outbreak. That was a year ago and I haven’t had an outbreak since. Now I waited 6 months before I shared with my husband so the next time he had an outbreak I advised him to do the same. In July it will be a year since he’s had an outbreak. Just for background I would get an outbreak once every 90 days my husband was the same. Comment from: Tatted, 45-54 Female (Patient) Published: August 27 I had an outbreak of genital herpes and I don’t currently have insurance. I rubbed turmeric powder on the sores and after a little over a day they were gone! I did reapply every time I went to the restroom and before bed. It was almost like a miracle. The next morning my underwear were a little stained but the sores were gone! Comment from: Wloverf, 35-44 Female (Patient) Published: April 30 I am reading a lot of what is going on with people here... but I think what a lot of us are interested are ideas of what has helped people in the past. What people are using or taking to help with the outbreaks; and what has or hasn't worked. I am currently dealing with a constant outbreak and have drunk smoothies that contain chia seeds, turmeric, ginger root, lemon juice, etc. and still on medications, yet it hasn't helped. Please share ideas of what has worked for you. Anything will help. Comment from: lisa richard, 45-54 Female (Patient) Published: September 19 I had herpes 2 spreading all over my body and even on my private part. I have had it for about 2 and a bit years (since the first year I got it). When I first contracted it (I did go to the doctor and got it confirmed) I had a couple outbreaks that year (very painful) and then no outbreaks ever again. Like I said it has been almost 4 years. The only thing I can think I did was using essential oil applications on my sacrum. I did take antiviral medicines the doctor gave me. Comment from: anonymous, Male (Patient) Published: October 07 I am suffering from genital herpes. If you want to finish off the outbreaks finish coffee, black tea, chocolate and cola from your life. I have done this and my monthly outbreaks which lasted for 5 years have stopped since almost two years. Yes, if I take any of above mentioned items for a few days I get outbreaks again. I am herpes-free man till I don’t take these items. Wish you all best of luck. My first outbreak was very painful. I had sores all over my vagina. I didn’t have another outbreak until five years later. This time it was on my behind and it was super painful, but only lasted couple of days. I think eating healthy and keeping the immune up is the key. Comment from: Ann, 75 or over Female (Patient) Published: August 07 I was just diagnosed with genital herpes at age 80. I cannot figure out where I got it. I have not had sex for several years. I wonder if it can be dormant for a long time. Comment from: Cloud9, 19-24 Female (Patient) Published: April 04 I have been diagnosed with genital herpes 8 months ago, so far I only had it once. I keep waiting for the next one. I haven't been in any relationship since then, it's been very hard for me for I am a young girl. Comment from: lilmscee66, 45-54 Female (Patient) Published: January 21 I started dating a man outside my marriage and within two months I was diagnosed with HSV2. I have not told him or my husband, but I did start a daily dose of Valtrex. I am scared to tell my husband with whom I have not had sex with since finding out. There is no easy way to tell either of them. Comment from: Great Grandmother, 75 or over Female (Patient) Published: January 13 A few years ago I was told I had genital herpes. I had not been in a relationship for 15 years. I thought the doctor was kidding. He told me it can stay dormant for many years. I was shocked. I get it about every five weeks and take pills for five days. It usually appears as a large, itchy bump or two in the hairline. It's not fun, that's for sure. Comment from: 2280, 25-34 Female Published: March 27 I just found out I have herpes. I can't believe it. How could this happen to me? That was my first reaction, and then SHAME. I have told only two people. I have never had an outbreak, and I pray that I never will. Comment from: Butterfly, 35-44 Male (Patient) Published: November 26 Topical lidocaine numbs the pain. I love it. Comment from: anano564, 25-34 Female (Patient) Published: June 21 I just found out that I had herpes which got it from my boyfriend. For some reason he started using Neosporin and in literally 24 hours it was gone. I did as well and every time I feel tingly and feel bumps I put NEO and by the next day it is gone. It’s amazing! Neosporin has done wonders for me. Try it. You won’t be disappointed. Comment from: male, 35-44 Male (Patient) Published: March 08 I just discovered that I have herpes. I didn’t know what it was initially, but I saw little rashes on my pubic region that developed into sores. I went to a clinic and after close examination, I was told that it was herpes. I was devastated when I found out. Comment from: jackie, Female (Patient) Published: February 17 I have been taking lysine over the counter. When the symptoms occur, I take three tablets a day and it is usually gone by the next. It has been a fantastic discovery for me. Comment from: 25-34 Female (Patient) Published: February 02 I've had minor outbreaks since 2007, perhaps once a year or so. I always keep a small tube of Zovirax at home, and when they happen this clears it up within a few days. Comment from: leeahbabbs, 19-24 Female (Patient) Published: January 23 I've just been recently diagnosed with genital herpes. I'm currently taking an anti-viral drug to help with my initial outbreak, and I feel humbled knowing that I'm not alone in this fight. QUESTION Is genital herpes contagious? See Answer Comment from: ANONY, 45-54 Female (Patient) Published: January 13 I have found that baby Orajel helps to numb the area to help with associated pain on the affected area. Comment from: 55-64 Female Published: January 03 I've suffered outbreaks for maybe ten years now. With my most recent outbreak, I've also been fighting a cold and sinus infection. I have been taking oregano oil for the sinus infection which seems to have had a positive effect on the virus as well! Knock on wood; I have not gotten a full outbreak, only the beginning sensations. I urge all to try this treatment. Oregano oil can be used in a glass of water, just add 5 to 10 drops in a glass of water. Comment from: Long time sufferer, 35-44 Female (Patient) Published: December 27 Definitely find the only way to control Herpes as a woman is to always take multiple vitamins!! I find that my "monthlies" lower my body’s resistance and leave my body weaker and more prone to outbreaks! Published: June 09 Hello, I have genital herpes and just want to reassure anyone who has an STD that you are not alone. There are millions of us and we come from all walks of life. Comment from: SoTx, 55-64 Male (Patient) Published: April 26 I believe I have had herpes for over 40 years; before there was a name for it. Its frequency has increased unfortunately. At first I could control by not getting too hot, eating yogurt. Then I started taking acidophilus over the counter. Now I take it twice a day plus when I have symptoms. Guess I will have to graduate to the anti-viral drugs. Comment from: lgirl, 55-64 Female (Patient) Published: June 22 I appreciate the straight forward and seemingly concise information provided here. However, I am experiencing outbreaks on my buttocks, as much as 5 separate lesions at a time as many times as 5 or six times a month. I am not sexually active and eat healthy foods. I have taken nuts and seeds out of my diet because of the fear of causing outbreaks. I am highly allergic to the anti viral medications used to control outbreaks. This is my question: Could there be some vitamin, mineral or other supplement that my body is missing that leaves my body open to these outbreaks? I’ve heard something about L-Lysine. Comment from: xyz, Female (Patient) Published: June 01 Herpes is a viral infection and thus there are no immediate results. It takes its time to heal -- generally a period of seven painful days after which it gradually subsides. Painkillers help in reducing the amount of pain. Comment from: Clean&Clear, 25-34 Female (Patient) Published: September 08 For those who have genital herpes it is so important to have a good multi vitamin and mineral supplement. Eat healthier, must exercise, high B vitamins. Definitely take the Lysine-over counter purchase. Keep drinking and partying to a minimal. Your body needs to stay healthy at all costs to fight this issue. Proper rest, proper food and proper vitamins are essential.
