My daughter was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at 12 years of age. She is now 14 and because her symptoms did not improve she was started on Remicade infusion therapy over a year ago. She has been able to get into remission with an infusion every 8 weeks but still has to take mercaptopurine. I cried and cried after reading the possible side effects but we felt we had no choice if we wanted her to have the best quality life possible. We did not let her know the side effects but as she gets older we will share them with her and she can make her own choice. I am just hoping that a cure will be found in her lifetime.
