Submit Your Comment Comment from: Someone ??, 25-34 Female (Patient) Published: November 01 A dog attacked and in one bite snapped the bone in half on the third finger and tore my back. I just got out of hospital, and 3 days later I was back in! I had surgery but now I can't move my thumb at all the docs are a bit lost as to why. It's been 4 weeks and there is still swelling. I am worried! They classed me with de Quervain's tenosynovitis but it's not! I need my hand working otherwise I got to quit my job. Comment from: Cmom, 25-34 Female (Patient) Published: September 04 A few months ago it was my husband who broke his hand punching a wall in anger. This morning I was teaching my daughter to box and she packs a good punch; being her pad man may have broken my hand. Possible fractured metacarpal but only an x-ray will tell for sure. I need to get it checked tomorrow. Right now it's strapped up and being ignored. She's 10! She's not supposed to be able to break me! Just had to match, didn't I! Comment from: Sean, 19-24 Male (Patient) Published: September 04 A 1 ton roller crushed my hand whilst being taken out of a lathe at work. Third metacarpal was broken and my knuckle has altered, and now I have a lump in my palm. Comment from: Octoberabbit38, 35-44 Male (Patient) Published: October 29 I thought I was superman, decided to punch a steel gate when I was drunk! I did not go to the hospital even though my right hand was broken in different areas. Now it has been 3 weeks and I still can’t use my wrist or fingers correctly. If the bones heal incorrectly I wonder if the emergency room will have to break them to set the bones. Comment from: Bcook , 35-44 Female (Patient) Published: August 07 I was tugging on a rope and my fist hit the wall on the pinky side. It has continued to hurt with popping sound, and now feels like it needs to pop on the top side of my wrist and back of my hand. Comment from: Sissy, 55-64 Female (Patient) Published: June 06 I was washing the windows while on the porch. The wind blew me backwards and I fell off of the porch onto the ground. Comment from: young60, 55-64 Male (Patient) Published: January 11 I tried a hover-board, fell fast and hard, and the right hand took a lot of the impact. Nothing else hurt, but these things are a really flawed design. They make skateboarding look safe. People old, young, athletes etc., are wiping out hard on these in huge numbers and since they are powered the fall is accelerated. Wear wrist protection, etc., use a spotter, or better yet just say no. Comment from: Jo, 45-54 Female (Patient) Published: September 11 I was hit in the palm of my hand with a paintball. It instantly bruised. I thought it was just a bad bruise but today (the day after being hit) I am experiencing a lot of pain as well as loss of range of motion. I am going to see my doctor to determine if it is broken. The bike came to an abrupt stop and my momentum carried me over the handle bars and I landed on my hands and face. I had a chipped tooth, busted lip, bruised muscles near sternum, and my 5th metacarpal broken at the wrist. The orthopedist performed outpatient surgery and I have two pins in my hand protruding from the right side to stabilize the bones while it heals. I was on a 30 mile ride but only made it to 13.96 mile before the crash. :( Comment from: clutzyme, 19-24 Female (Patient) Published: October 30 I slipped down three steps landing on my hand and I have what the doctor called a boxer's fracture. This chipped a piece of brick off and consequently my bone too. Pillar: one, hand: zip. I completely snapped one bone in the wrist in half and another bone bowed up, I think a meta carpal, lucky it wasn't compound fracture, and my knuckle has a fracture running down the finger bone. The hand specialist seems to think the best course of action would be to fuse the two bones together therefore losing the ability to move it. I did the injury about 3 weeks ago now so other options are no longer available. Comment from: sunflower, 65-74 Female (Patient) Published: June 14 I broke my hand when I fell off the sidewalk.
